Sleep (or more likely  – insomnia)

Many people have problems sleeping. There are some online resources that might help at the SleepHub.
If you access the link it will lead you through  the core components of  addressing insomnia

  1. Stimulus control– helps the brain realise that bed is for sleeping.
  2. Sleep restriction–involves matching the time you spend in bed with the time you are asleep.
  3. Relaxation training– to help practice skills to calm the mind for sleep and manage stress and anxiety during the day
  4. Cognitive therapy– to help restructure the negative thoughts about sleep that reduce sleep or the way you feel.
  5. Sleep hygiene– good habits, routines and winding down as bedtime approaches.

The SleepHub also produces a podcast called Sleep Talk to listen to each month.

How to help support someone you care for who has mental health issues.

We often feel helpless when someone we love needs our support with their mental health. We may feel we don’t know what do to or that we may make things worse. One of the key elements to caring for someone else is to look after yourself first. This means focusing on eating healthily, getting regular exercise each day, and sleeping.
