Did you know that heart disease is the single leading cause of death in Australia? So, it is important that you do everything you can to stay on top of your heart health.

With a new year here, it is time to continue with or create new healthy habits to keep your heart and body health.

Here are 5 tips you can follow to help keep your heart healthy.

1. Stay Active

Exercising daily can reduce your risk of heart disease. Going for a run or walk or doing an at home workout are great ways to reach the recommended 30 minutes of exercise a day. Check out the videos at www.reydonstreet.com.au/services/staying-healthy-exercising-and-eating-well/ to learn more about how you can stay active.

2. Eat a heart-healthy diet

It’s easy to snack when working from home or in the afternoons. However, to maximise heart health, it’s important to eat a healthy diet and enjoy a variety of nutritious foods. Eating plenty of fruit and vegetables and healthy fats will help keep your heart healthy. Also limit processed food which is usually high in both sugar and salt. 3. Keep your distance and wash your hands

To keep yourself and those around you safe, maintain 1.5m distance from other people and regularly wash your hands. Always squeeze and cough into your elbow or a tissue and try to avoid touching your face.
